Plans Offered
AHIP offers two types of plans - a Traditional Indemnity Plan through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and a Managed Care Plan through United HealthCare. Both plans cover many of the same general types of services — doctor visits, prescription drugs and in-hospital care, for example. They also cover emergency care while away from home.Where they differ is in how they deliver covered care and their premium coverage cost.
- Alabama Health Insurance Plan is offered to people who have exhausted benefits and are not eligible for any other group coverage.
