Blue Advantage
Great news: Blue Advantage is here!As of March 1, 2008, benefits for retirees who have Medicare coverage have been improved under a new plan administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama. This new plan, known as Blue Advantage, is designed to provide benefits for retirees who currently have Medicare primary coverage and SEHIP secondary coverage by combining these two separate plans into one comprehensive benefit plan.
List of Covered DrugsBlue Advantage not only provides you with your current benefits, but also provides a variety of enhancements to your in-network benefits. Listed below are some of the enhanced benefits you will be offered under this plan. See Summary of Benefits or Hand book for more details.
- $5 copay for Tier 1 drugs
- $20 copay for Tier 2 drugs
- $50 copay for Tier 3 drugs
- $2,500 prescription drug annual out-of-pocket maximum
- Enhanced list of covered vaccines
- Skilled nursing facility benefits with no deductible and/or copay
- Home health benefits with no deductible and/or copay
Your new Blue Cross Blue Shield identification care combines your SEHIP and Medicare coverages, allowing for one Blue Advantage ID card to be used for all your medical needs. To ensure that your claims process correctly, please remember to show your new Blue Advantage ID card to your health care provider, pharmacy and/or dentist and allow them to make a copy for their office files.
