The State Employees’ Insurance Board (SEIB) ACHIEVE Wellness Program is comprised of three different, but interrelated concepts: Assess, Avert, and Advocate.
For members to achieve their health goals, they must assess their current health condition, avert long-term and life-altering effects of certain cancers and the complications of diabetes, and advocate for themselves by using free resources available to SEHIP (BCBS Group 13000) members to address weight loss and learn ways to prevent, delay, manage, or even reverse chronic diseases.
As a SEHIP member, you can assess your current health condition by participating in the annual Wellness Screening. During the screening, the SEIB will be checking for certain risk factors, such as elevated blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, or BMI. Individuals with one or more chronic conditions are more likely to suffer from the effects of infectious disease than those with few or no health conditions. If certain risk factors are identified, you will be referred to your health care provider for a follow-up visit. Once the wellness screening and office referral (if applicable) are complete, you will receive a $25 monthly wellness premium discount.
Avert means to prevent or ward off an undesirable occurrence. The Preventive Screening program is a set of exams that are designed to help you detect cancer or complications from diabetes in their earliest stages when treatment can result in the best outcomes. Click on the Preventive Screening tab for more information about the program and learn how you may qualify for the $25 monthly preventive screening premium discount.
The final concept is advocate. The SEIB provides you with the tools needed to advocate for the healthiest version of yourself. But what’s best is that you do not have to travel this health journey alone! Each program offered includes a health advocate. From physicians and health coaches at Virta Health to nurses at Blue Cross Blue Shield, you will have the support you need to achieve your health goals. The SEIB will communicate directly with the qualifying members of the SEHIP to offer programs to address diabetes, weight loss, hypertension, and much more.
